Slinkies are the worlds best toy. I don’t think the work would be the same without it. They’re better than a cell phone!

The Slinky was invented in 1943 by Richard T. James (Whose wife died a couple days ago!!). His wife, Betty James, named it after seeing the word slinky mean sleek and graceful in the dictionary. It was discovered by accident. Richard observed a torsion spring roll off a shelf and crawl, coil by coil, than stop in an upright position. He told his wife “I think I can make a toy out of this!!” Two years after Richard James created the slinky, he and Betty (With the approval of Gimbels in Philadelphia) set up a station in the local toy store and demonstrated the batter-less toy, which was a hit. Today, slinkies come in a rainbow-dyed plastic and the classical, silver metal. Wanna hear a couple of SLINKY fun facts? Ok, hears a few A slinky can be used to explain scientific concepts. The Christian band Lost and Found uses a slinky as one of their primary instruments. One or more slinkies can form a short wave radio antenna. In the Vietnam War, slinkies were used as short wave radio antenna, AND 400 slinkies were sold in the first 90 minutes.
I hope you enjoyed my essay. I also KNOW you learned something. OH!! I left out the official slinky jingle!!!!
It’s slinky, it’s slinky, for fun it’s a WONDERFUL toy!!
It’s slinky, it’s slinky, it’s fun for a girl and a boy!!!

There she was, a dusky brown.
She came the previous sunset,
and stood right under our window sill.
She had two fawns, identical to each other and their mom.
The next day , there her eldest son stood, 0on the
other side of the fence, munching on the veggies we’d
thrown out last night.
we stood there for minutes though it seemed like hours.
Can you guess who our friends are?
That’s right!! There Mule-Deer!!!!
I hope you enjoyed my poem. Every part of it was true. We saw them on 10\17\08. Look up mule deer if you don’t know what they are.
Caio!!

Have you ever gone to Greenway School? If so you know about Little-Bit and Orange-Paw. they live with Harold, born in a meadow, and are only a week of age. Litte-Bit is younger than Orange-Paw. Orange-Paw is smarter than Little-bit. They LOVE, really LOVE to pounce on each other. Now Little-Bit and Orange-Paw won’t be real, but people will be dressed as them. I will probably be Little-Bit. I have some friends who I will ask to be Orange-Paw and Harold. I hope they say yes. NOW (clap, clap), DO YOU know the theme song for them? the answer is probably no. Here’s the song,
Orange-Paw and Little-Bit (clap).
Little-Bit (clap)
Little-Bit (clap)
Orange-Paw and Little-Bit (clap)
Like to gnaw and hit! (clap, clap)

Chapter 1
The day I was born, Wind Clan was driven from their home on the moor.
Hi, I’m the Wind Clan medicine cat Gemeye. I was born after my clan reached the sewer. My Mother and Father were both siamese cats. My Mother, Brindletail, was our best hunter while my Father, Egaltalon, was deputy. They are both dead now but Onestar says I inherited my Mother’s skill. Krestlewing was my mentor.
I remember very clearly the flame colored pelt so well, the one that haunted my dreams . . . Later, when I was old enough to walk and talk, most of the time I was in the medicine den. Learning the herbs, memorizing what they were used for. Krestlewing said I was a natural. When I was apprenticed. I slept and ate with my mentor. Then I went to the moon pool. The moon pool is where the medicine cats and leaders visit Star Clan, our warrior ansesters. I sometimes see Brindletail and Egaltalon to share tongues, but mostly to be warned of danger.

One day I went to the POND. But I felt a rain DROP on my hand. The rain DROP had LUCK and I brought my DRUM with me. I brought my dog after I went home. I RUB her belly all the time. I had a LOT of fun! There was a CROP there. There was a DODGE ball. There was a house with the door that was open. So I SHUT the door. That second I saw a SOCK floating. Then I saw a boat contest. My friend WON the contest! Now it is DUSK. DOES the POND have frogs or lilly pads?

Here’s another poem. If you like my poems you can and would like me to try to write one for you, leave a comment with your email and we’ll talk (as long as Mom and Dad say it’s okay).
Clouds
Clouds can be happy,
or sad.
Some are white
Now a days their gray.
The gray ones
cry long and hard.
The white ones hide
the sun, clouds are
cool and neat.
They can take many
forms, rabbits, sheep,
or playful cats.
Right now, the
clouds are having a
temper-tantrum.
At night they cover they
cover the moon and
stars
At 4:44,
I hope they clouds will
take me away.
There, a fresh-out-of -the-mind poem. I hope you enjoyd it.

The Rain Drops by Lily Mattogno

It was raining outside. I did not want to go outside. It was pouring rain.
“I don’t want to go outside.” I told my Mom
Me and my Mom are running to the car.
I said “I didn’t want to go outside.”
I played outside when it stopped raining.
THE END
