On Sunday we hosted a party for Steve Poltz to play. We had a bunch of people come from out of town to watch him play. They are great people. It was fun to have them here to hear their stories of past shows they had gone to to see Steve. We also got to introduce our friends here in Bisbee to Steve and his music.
We had great food. ‘topher made ribs. Everyone always enjoys his ribs. There were tamales, pulled chicken, macaroni, beans, bread and cheese and so much more. A feast of food to play with the senses in your mouth!
The girls worked hard during the day to make a welcome drawing for Steve and our guests. Sometimes their talent amazes me!
I had a wonderful time. Steve put on a wonderful show. His second set he professed it was a bit crazy. He made up a bunch of songs. It was fun. I like his craziness. The children were occupied playing with their friends, so I’ll find out in a few days what they actually got out of it. I really enjoyed it though, all of it.
Thank you Mr. Poltz for coming to our house and playing for us. You asked me if it was worth it before you left. I don’t think I answered you before we were interrupted at least I can’t remember answering (I was a good girl, so I can’t blame it on the booze, I didn’t have any). It’s been in my brain since you left, and I have the answer for you now . . .
This party/show was very much worth it. I got to meet some really nice new people. I got the make and eat some great food. I got words out of my head and spoke to you (Sounds silly, huh? I always thought so too). Gearing up for, during, and after it felt like Christmas Eve. I just got my presents early and could go to sleep a lot sooner. Most of all what made this event worth it was my husband, ‘topher. People give their loved ones flowers, jewelry, diamonds, the list goes on. I don’t get those things. I get gestures, and beloved memories. He knows me so well that he brings you to our house to make me smile (Smiles help to fight the homesickness). It helps that he enjoys your music too, but I like my way of looking at it. So my answer is yes. Very much worth every once of us we put into you coming here. Thank you for coming.
For the rest of the world, we would love for you to fall in love with Steve Poltz too. A man who shares his imagination and life experiences for the amusement of others.
Photos of the night taken by Cobban Barnett. Thank you so much Cobban!
A song about ‘topher’s ribs, thank you Steve!
A post from my daughters (coming soon).
His show at our house will be for sale soon.

Let me start with I don’t like Valentine’s Day. I believe I should get love letters, flowers, and chocolate everyday, and that I should express my love to those I love everyday.
Love is not about one special day that you express your love for another person. It’s everyday of your life. That’s part of what makes it such a sought after thing.

I was sitting on the couch doing my best to keep my eyes open. I wanted to finish the show we had started to watch. ‘topher was beside me. He had fallen asleep. I had decided we were going to bed as soon as the show was over. It was 10:30pm after all.
I heard the doors of a car shut, neighbors across the street, probably. My habit it to look and see just the same. No tail lights or cars in the neighbor’s driveway, but there is something in my driveway that doesn’t belong. I got up gave ‘topher a little shake to wake him and walked to the door. I’m not always the smartest when I’m half asleep. With ‘topher right behind me, I opened the door. Read more…
