Let me start with I don’t like Valentine’s Day. I believe I should get love letters, flowers, and chocolate everyday, and that I should express my love to those I love everyday.
Love is not about one special day that you express your love for another person. It’s everyday of your life. That’s part of what makes it such a sought after thing.
I must give my husband huge credit for a fantastic night. He took two days off and brought me to Tucson, AZ to the Hotel Congress to see a show. We were to early for check in so we walked all around the neighborhood. We’ve always walked. This was like a good 3 hour walk all around the art district. We stopped for lunch at this place called Burger City.

It had lots of local art on the wall, the wait staff was really nice, and my burger was very yummy!

(this was cool – spring training for the Rockies begins)
We walked some more, choosing this road and that to explore the town. It was fun to walk in the warm sunny day (it got up to 80°, I had shorts on). Had a coffee at Ikes’s Coffee and Tea to rest the feet beginning to sore.
We checked into the Hotel Congress just before 3pm. Spent the rest of the afternoon lounging in our room. Really neat room very old fashion. No television, tried to use their wireless to watch Hulu but it just wasn’t good enough. So we napped.

Around 5 we went downstairs for happy hour. We had these great appetizers.
Two Thompson Automatics
shredded chicken marinated in frank’s original red sauce, wrapped in a egg roll with gorgonzola and deep-fried until crispy, served with asian slawCarpaccio Tonno
thinly sliced raw ahi tuna topped with capers, parmesan cheese, field greens and masago (capelin row) drizzled with lemon juice and extra virgin olive oil, served with toasted baguette slices
I wish I took photos. The first one was soo yummy. We’re gonna try to make them at home. The second was all about the capers for me and the tuna for ‘topher.
So while we were eating Steve Poltz showed up at the counter to check in for his show and to get his room. ‘topher said hello to him across the room, “Hello Mr Poltz.” He didn’t yell but threw that deep voice of his. The whole room went really quiet. It was kinda funny.

Later ‘topher went into the Club while they we setting up and spoke with Steve. Told him what a crazed fan I am, so of course Steve said while bring me to meet her. I wish I knew why I turned into a bumbling fool around him. Can’t make my mouth work. I try to keep it to short sentences. I can’t even get the foolish grin off my face long enough to express myself.
Anyway, Steve put on a great show. We got to see Patrick Dennis play as an opening show. He called himself WirePony (couldn’t find him online). He was very nice to listen to, cute too.

Cool part of the show is that they record it all live and then sell it to you at the end. We hung out with Steve (I grinned foolishly) while we waited for the CDs to be burned. Had our picture taken. He signed each sleeve (very cool).

(This is Emily in the the last photo with us. She took the first two, she’s going to come to the Bisbee show )
‘topher and I went up to bed, had breakfast the next morning in the Cup Cafe and watched some of the gem people do their thing. We checked out and headed home early listening to the new CDs we had bought.
I’m writing this post 4 days later and I’m still on a kind of high from our night on the town. Thank you ‘topher! I had a fablous time with you!
