Mackworth Island in Falmouth
My Dad used to take us here when Mom needed a break or was working. We’d walk the path around the island taking little side trips to the beach or into the woods. Sometimes he’d bring us some fishing poles and we’d fish off the road at high tide. I have fond memories of the times I spend here with my Dad and brothers.
If you decide to visit, it really only takes an hour or so to walk around the island. Parking was free when I was little (around 1985). It’s a great way to let children burn off some steam.
I would go back to visit.
Sebago Lake in Casco
I grew up camping here, like my Mom and Dad did when they were kids. We’d go for two weeks over the fourth of July. Lots of fond memories here. We tented, and had a pop-up trailer. You can tent on the hill where there is an amphitheater. The Ranger’s put movies on up there every so often. We sailed, boated, skied, rode bikes, swimming (lessons too), volleyball, and so much more. This is a great place to go camping with the family.
I hope to bring my family here one day
